WESTMINSTER, Vt. — A teenager has died after the car he was riding in crashed into a group of trees Saturday, according to state police.
Vermont State Police responded to a report of a serious crash on Morse Brook Road at about 10:20 Saturday morning, according to a news release from the department. The car then went up a light grade of dirt on the edge of the road and the passenger side rear door struck a large tree, the release states. There was “massive crush damage” to the rear passenger area of the car.
One of two passengers in the car, who was sitting in the rear middle seat, suffered a severe head injury, the release states. A subsequent email sent by state police Sunday afternoon announced that the passenger, identified as Vincenzo Ruggiero, 15, of Saxtons River, Vt., died of his injuries.
The second passenger, Dominic Bates, 15, of Chester, Vt., suffered minor injuries, according to the email. The driver of the vehicle, who is listed as 16 years old, was not injured and is not identified in the release.
