Rick Marasa of Springfield, Vt., was the lone player to break 80 Wednesday when the Valley Seniors Golf Association made a stop at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene.

The event, the second on the tour’s 2019 schedule, was contested on Bretwood’s North Course.

Marasa bested Jim Barry of Bedford by one shot. Jeff Miller of Walpole shot 83 to finish third and David Howell of Walpole and Dan Chadwick of North Sutton, Mass., each carded a round of 84. Howell claimed fourth place based on the tiebreaker (back-nine score).

Keene’s Alex Gemmell shot 87 to place sixth. Jim Tolo, the former Keene Country Club member now playing out of Winchendon, Mass., was eighth with an 89. Their scores, among others, was adjusted by three strokes because of difference in course rating from tees played.

Gemmell and Tolo also finished 1-2 for gross scoring in their age group: 75-83.

The Valley Seniors is for players ages 55 and older.

The next event is May 23 at Canterbury Woods.
