A qualifying tournament for the New England PGA Junior Tour was played Sunday at Bretwood Golf Course, for boys and girls.
The lone area player in the event, Hannah Drew, shot a 6-over par 78 on the South Course to finish runner-up in a seven-player field. Drew had a pair of birdies, both on par 5s, but couldn’t overcome eight bogeys. The reigning state champion and Keene High senior will play at the University of Hartford in the fall.
Eva Gonzales of Nashua was the winner; she shot 76. June Doerr of Hampton Falls finished third, with 81.
On the boys’ side, Juan Oliva of Wellesley, Mass., made six birdies in a round of 1-under 71. He was the only player on the day to better par.
One shot back was Riley Rohlfs of Westfield, Mass., and finishing third was Elliott Wallace of Bedford, who had five birdies in his round of 73.
The field featured 48 players.
The event is one of five qualifiers held throughout New England for a 36-hole, two-day NEPGA Championship June 25-26 at Shaker Hills Country Cub in Harvard, Mass. The top two finishers Sunday advanced.
