Franklin Pierce softball junior Ashley Cangiano was selected as a second-team all-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Cangiano, a catcher from North Attleboro, Mass., is the first player in the history of the Ravens program to earn all-American honors. She was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Year after leading the conference in batting average (.444), on-base percentage (.542) and slugging percentage (.854). She ranked in the top-ten in the nation for Division III on-base and slugging percentage.
Cangiano also became the program’s all-time leader in RBI (95), setting the program single-season mark this year with 54.
The Ravens finished the season 32-20 and qualified for the NCAA Division II East Regional in Wilmington, Del.
