It was an abrupt return to the postseason for the ConVal boys’ tennis team.

The No. 6 Cougars of Peterborough, in the playoffs for the first time in five years, managed just one win in an 8-1 loss to No. 3 Souhegan, in the first round of the Division II team tournament Tuesday.

Taylor Burgess earned ConVal’s only win, besting Joshua Goddard at No. 3 singles, 8-3. He also fought hard alongside Zach Kriebel at No. 1 doubles, but the duo fell to Sam Goddard and Pat Conway in the closest match of the afternoon, 9-8 (7-2).

Kriebel also lost to Sam Goddard at No. 1 singles, 8-3, while Everett Landers lost to Kyle Gibson at No. 2 (8-5), Jamison Coty fell to Michael Dodge at No. 4 (8-5), Noah Krason lost Joshua Lacaillade at No. 5 (8-2) and Jaimini Viles lost to Camden Fritz at No. 6 (8-3).

Landers and Coty fell to Gibson and Lacaillade, 8-5, and Viles and Krason lost to Dodge and James Zeollie, 8-6, in the other doubles matches.

ConVal will return all of its players next season.
