This year’s Chesterfield Lions Club John K. Schlichting Golf Classic’ will be held Tuesday, July 9, at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, on the North Course.

Schlichting was a charter member of the club, a lifelong resident of Spofford and a Chesterfield and a Keene High School alumnus. He was the event’s driving force since its inception. The tournament continues to serve as the club’s major fund-raising activity.

This is the tournament’s 21st year.

Proceeds cover three $2,000 scholarships to qualified and deserving Chesterfield students graduating from Keene High School, the club’s annual donation of $1,500 to the Chesterfield Public School Foundation, and, consistent with the club’s mission, projects associated with sight and hearing. To-date, combined donations total more than $120,000, according to a Lions Club news release.

The tournament is an 18-hole scramble, based on flights and handicaps. Entry fee is $125 per person. Companies an sponsor a hole for $125.

In addition to golf prizes, all participants are eligible for a drawing for two $250 TB Bank cash cards.

Breakfast will be provided during registration and prior to the 8:30 shotgun start; hot dogs will be available at the turn.

A putting contest features a cash prize.
