Granny D’s Third Anniversary Walk is happening Aug. 13.

People can park at Depot Square in Peterborough and will be carpooled to Granny D’s old home on Cobb Meadow Road in Dublin, or meet us there. The walk will start around 9:15 a.m. and arrive at Depot Square around 11:30 a.m.

People who can only walk partway can join us at the Green Grocer in West Peterborough and those who can only do a short walk are welcome to join the walkers at Adams Playground or at the Peterborough Town House.

Two years ago, we walked from Granny D’s home to downtown Hancock and last year we walked from her home to Depot Square. Celebrations of Granny D and her work happened after each walk. These walks and gatherings are in recognizing Granny D and celebrating her life and her work.

This year, Virginia Rasmussen from Move to Amend will be the featured speaker. Other speakers, pizza, ice cream and music by Tattoo will fill out the festivities at Depot Square. People will speak about their memories of Granny D (Doris Haddock) who walked across the United States at 89/90 years old to draw awareness for the need for campaign finance reform, to get the money out of politics for fair representation for the people.

Join us on this walk and at this celebration.
