In response to John M. Crisp’s question “Why one religion and not another?” (“The inextricable link between abortion and religion,” Insights, May 21-22), I am reminded of a sign at my church: “The first lesson of philosophy is that we may all be mistaken.”

I suggest a few more thoughts of philosophy: “Just because we believe the first does not mean we are right either.” However, please add/substitute your thoughts.

A third idea: “Some sort of constructive faith is very useful.” The word constructive was added after discussion with an escaped/enlightened Roman Catholic, now a member of my parish/congregation.

I close my preaching to allow readers to add their important ideas with this last thought/cliché: “Use it or lose it!”

Just five short words.

Sincerely,

LAURENCE R. SAUNDERS
