Both the N.H. Senate and House passed a bill to repeal the death penalty in New Hampshire. Gov. Sununu has vetoed the bill. I urge our representatives to override his veto.

The death penalty is state-sponsored murder. Victims’ families testified in Concord that killing the murderer brings them no relief. Law enforcement officers testified in favor of repealing the death penalty.

There are many cases that we know of in which innocent people were on death row for crimes they did not commit. We cannot know how many may have been executed. How can we justify killing an innocent person?

I urge our representatives and senators to override the governor’s veto.

Sincerely,

DAVID BLAIR
