Shirley L. Swett
Shirley Louise Swett, 75, of Sullivan passed away in the comfort of her home on March 24, 2019, after a period of declining health.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1943, in Winchendon, Mass., the daughter of George and Caroline (LaFalam) Patterson. She attended area schools and graduated from Murdock High School in Winchendon, Mass., class of 1961.
On Dec. 6, 1969, Shirley married the love of her life, Frank Swett, after having met while working together at AE Martel in Keene.
Prior to her retirement, Shirley had been employed by Peerless Insurance for 25 years. Simultaneously, she enjoyed her part-time jobs as a realtor for Shamrock Real Estate and Century 21.
Shirley cherished moments with her greatest loves, her family — grandchildren especially. Some of her favorite memories included family vacations and get-togethers. She especially loved Christmas time with her family. She had a passion for shopping and loved to spoil her granddaughters.
In her younger years Shirley liked getting together to play cards with friends. She was also a member of the Sullivan Ridge Runners snowmobile club and had taken classes in ceramics.
Shirley will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 50 years, Frank Swett of Sullivan; children, Frank Swett Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Troy and Diane Knightly and her husband, Donald, of Troy; grandchildren, Madison Swett, Olivia Knightly and stepgrandson, Kasey Dearth; siblings, Bruce Morlock and his wife, Marie, of Fitchburg, Mass., and Linda Maker of Leominster, Mass.; close friends, MJ Lupien of Keene, Judy Fassett of Swanzey, and Ken and Sandy Johnson of Keene; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents, George Patterson and Caroline Morlock; and siblings, Nancy Martin and Peter Morlock.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at the United Congregational Church, 312 Centre St., Sullivan. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro St., Keene. A private burial will take place at Sullivan Center Cemetery in Sullivan in the spring.
