Robert “Rob” Leustek, 46, of Winchester and formerly of Gladstone, N.J., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017.

Robert was born the son of the late Ana Theodora (Metzler) and Boris Leustek on Aug. 30, 1970, in Elizabeth, N.J. He graduated from Roselle Park High School, class of 1988. Rob also received certificates in black seal boiler maintenance, very small water systems and obtained his commercial driver’s license in 2012.

On Nov. 12, 1996, he exchanged vows with Gloria D. Hegyes in Hollywood, Fla., and they renewed their vows in 1998 at Zion Lutheran Church in Rahway, N.J. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for almost 21 years.

Rob was employed by Wiggin Hydroseed Landscaping in Northfield, Mass. He also worked at Bob’s Fuel in Winchester as a delivery man and driver in the winter. Previously he had worked at the Sisters of St. John the Baptist in Gladstone, N.J. as a property manager for 25 years. He was also a farmer and beekeeper who owned and operated Porcupine Acres LLC with his wife in Winchester.

He had many interests and accomplishments in life. Time was spent as a selectman for the town of Winchester. He was an alternate on the planning board for the town of Winchester. In addition, he also spent time on the Revitalization and Economic Development committee (RED). Rob worked diligently with others in the Winchester community to establish and form the Winchester Centennial Lions Club. He was known to help at the local farmers market but his passion was being the town clock custodian and working to restore the town clock. This project emulated Rob’s willingness to protect some of Winchester’s history by restoring the clock to its original working condition.

He was a man who loved his community. Life wasn’t all business for Rob. He gave freely of his time to participate on the planning committee for the Winchester Pickle Festival. You can read more about Rob’s interesting life at
