James R. Chase

James Robert “Jim” Chase, 67, of Keene, died on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He died at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, surrounded by family and his grand-dog.

He was born the son of the late Phyllis (Randall) Chase Price and Robert Chase on Sept. 23, 1951, in Keene. He graduated from Keene High School in the class of 1970. After high school Jim joined the Army for three years. When he left the Army he returned to Keene where he attended Keene State College. He then married the love of his life, Edith Castine. Jim then enlisted in the Navy and made a career as a Navy corpsman. Being stationed in Virginia, Connecticut, Sicily, New York and North Carolina. Returning to New Hampshire for retirement.

Jim’s mission in life was to make people laugh with his unique sense of humor and wise cracking. Jim is dearly loved by his family. He gave all he could to bring them happiness. Never letting his illness get in the way. Jim leaves us with love in our hearts, kindness in our souls and a smile on our face. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Edith Chase of Keene; his children, Rachelle Hill and her husband, Chris Hill, of Jaffrey, Jennifer Chase, of Keene, his grandchildren, Caleb, Isaiah, Alyza, James, Crimson and Ceazar; his sisters, Jane Rossi and her husband, Mel, of Greenfield, Ann Dick and her husband, William, of Canada. In addition he is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 1 p.m. at the East Swanzey Community House at 18 Old Richmond Road, East Swanzey.
