Frederick Carpenter, 98, who lived with his daughters in Langdon, and Perkinsville, Vt., passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity.
Fred was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., Oct. 10, 1920, the son of Burleigh Ned and Beryl (Stevens) Carpenter. He graduated from McIndoes Academy in 1938. He was a graduate of the Agricultural College in Randolph, Vt., and worked in the poultry industry independently and also for Hubbard Farms of Walpole. Fred also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, 1942-45.
Fred is survived by his daughters Janet Bristol of Perkinsville, Vt., and Christine Lacroix of Keene; his grandchildren, Peter, Dan, Melony and Justin; and great-grandchildren, David and Delilah. He is predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Kathleen, in 1964; his second wife, Pauline; and his daughter, Carolyn Lawlor.
There will be a graveside service 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7, in the Walpole Cemetery, Walpole. Per Fred’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
