David N. Quimby
David Norris Quimby, 59, of Harrisville, died peacefully in his home with his beloved cat, Gilbert, on April 25, 2019.
He was born in Keene on April 3, 1960, to parents Diana Tobias and Earle C. Quimby Jr. He attended Keene schools and the University of New Hampshire.
Most of his early years were spent with horses, in particular at the Monadnock Pony Club. He received both B and A National Pony Club ratings and later served as an instructor. He competed extensively throughout New England and Pennsylvania in three day eventing (dressage, cross country and stadium jumping) and participated the North American Junior Olympics in Chicago.
He was self-employed and expressed his creative and artistic side by building beautiful homes and stone walls, patios and sculptures as Monadnock Stonewall Company, and hand-crafted board games as Quiggs and Co.
He lived near and loved Silver Lake for most of his life and leaves many close friends, who will continue to reminisce about their past adventures together.
He is survived by his mother, Diana; and sister, Carrie, both of Keene; niece, Aubrey Perkins and her husband, Steve, of Dublin; nephew, Noah Saxton and his partner, Meaghan Sullivan, of Southampton, N.Y.; Uncle Reg Tobias and his wife, MaryLou, of Harwick, Mass.; and cousins, Ernie, Charlie and Doug Stone and their families. He is predeceased by father, Earle; Aunt Ruth Quimby Hill and her son, Minot Hill.
The family hopes that those who knew and loved Dave will keep his spirit alive in their memories.
