BRATTLEBORO — Three people who police say were carrying 193 bags of heroin in a vehicle Wednesday on Interstate 91 were arrested in Brattleboro.
Victoria Scripps-Carmody, 21, of Burlington, Vt.; Sherman Schuler, 31, of Burlington, Vt.; and Keon Sterling, 26, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., are each accused of heroin possession and heroin trafficking, according to a news release from Vermont State Police.
The arrests are part of a month-long Vermont Drug Task Force investigation into the distribution and sale of crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin in Vermont’s Chittenden County, according to the release.
The task force — along with the Vermont State Police, and Burlington and South Burlington police departments — also executed a search warrant Wednesday at Scripps-Carmody’s house in Burlington, where evidence of drug use was collected, police say.
Schuler and Scripps-Carmody were held at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, Vt., for lack of $50,000 and $10,000 bail, respectively, and they appeared Thursday in the Windham Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court.
Sterling, who was cited and released, also appeared in court Thursday.
Police say further arrests may be forthcoming.
