Water customers on some Keene streets will have their service temporarily shut off this coming week as gate-valve-replacement work is conducted at two city intersections.

The work will be at the intersection of North and Carroll streets Monday and at the intersection of Giffith and Sullivan streets Tuesday, according to a news release from the city’s public works department. Affected customers will be given 48 hours notice, and water will be shut off for a period of about six to eight hours, the release says.

If weather allows, work will be done between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The project is being performed by Frank Lucius Construction. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to be extra vigilant near equipment or open excavations, although the release notes that the work area will be marked and barricaded. Some minor traffic delays are anticipated.

Questions can be directed to Donald R. Lussier, the city engineer, or Yelma Desseta, the city’s project manager, at the public works office at 352-6550.
