Keene’s proposed downtown hotel and conference center makes economic sense, according to a marketing study commissioned by the Keene Property Owners Association. Keene banker Charles W. Smith, president of the Keene Downtown Revitalization Corp., said Tuesday that the report shows the area can support a 90- to-100-room downtown hotel, conference center and function facility.
MANCHESTER — The big lawsuit over how New Hampshire pays for public education may be headed for a settlement. After announcing his re-election bid Tuesday, Gov. Stephen E. Merrill said that in a month or so he will offer a plan that will involve the Legislature and his office to deal with the so-called Claremont lawsuit.
