State health officials Friday announced the COVID-related death of a male Cheshire County resident under the age of 60. His was one of two deaths the N.H. Department of Health and Human Services reported that day, the other involving a Rockingham County man who was 60 or older.

As of Friday morning, 214,572 people statewide had tested positive for COVID-19, according to the state health department’s latest statistics. About 92 percent of them — 197,213 people — had recovered whereas the deaths of about 1 percent — 2,019 people — had been attributed to the virus.

The latest reported death brings the Cheshire County coronavirus death toll to 79, according to state statistics.

Health officials were aware of 15,340 current COVID-19 cases statewide, including 659 in Cheshire County, and 366 people in New Hampshire hospitals with active cases of the disease. (This figure does not include hospitalized people recovering from COVID-19.)
