PETERBOROUGH — An area man has died from injuries he suffered when his car collided with oncoming traffic last week on Route 202 in Peterborough, police say.
Joseph Siok, 83, of Stoddard, died Friday, two days after the crash, according to Peterborough police Chief Scott Guinard.
Siok lost control of his 2008 Cadillac sedan around 9 a.m. last Wednesday while driving south on Route 202 (Hancock Road), causing the car to cross the center line and collide with a pickup truck, Guinard said Monday. Siok suffered multiple serious injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital, Guinard said.
The pickup truck’s driver — Stephen Smith, 42, of Peterborough — injured his hand in the collision, according to Guinard. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, he said.
Peterborough police were still investigating the crash Monday, but Guinard said icy road conditions at the time were the primary factor in Siok’s losing control of his car.
