JAFFREY — A major regional employer is scheduled to come before the town’s planning board tonight to discuss a proposal to expand its laboratory and manufacturing space in Jaffrey.

MilliporeSigma is seeking to expand its 35,800-square-foot facility at 11 Prescott Road to include a 24,200-square-foot, single-story addition and an 11,600-square-foot, two-story structure, according to the planning board’s agenda for tonight’s meeting.

The meeting, slated for 6 p.m. at the town office at 10 Goodnow St., will include a public hearing, the agenda says.

Specializing in lab equipment and supplies, as well as services to biotech and pharmaceutical companies, MilliporeSigma is a life-science company with corporate offices in St. Louis and Burlington, Mass., and locations across the globe.

Representatives from MilliporeSigma were not immediately available Monday afternoon to discuss the plans. But according to the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce, MilliporeSigma is the largest employer in town, with roughly 900 people.

Jo Anne Carr, the town’s planning and economic development director, said the expansion is expected to create new jobs at the Jaffrey facility in the coming years.
