The first annual Pathways for Keene Main Street Mile road race takes off from Court Street on New Year’s Day morning. The race, measured at exactly 5,280 feet, ended on Main Street. A contingent of Keene High runners battled for the top spot — two of them from the same family. Aidan Kindopp of West Chesterfield, who graduated from Keene High in June, edged former teammate Jake Velazquez, this year’s NHIAA cross country state champion, by two seconds. Kindopp finished in 4 minutes, 34 seconds while Velazquez came in at 4:36. Torin Kindopp, a Keene High sophomore and Aidan’s brother, was third in 4:39. Dawson Adams of Gilsum and Martin Nelligan of Keene rounded out the top five. Karen Jordan of Keene was the first female finisher, taking 15th overall in 5:46. Jayna Leach was two places behind her in 5:58. A total of 89 runners completed the race, which benefits Pathways for Keene.
