A show of support

The Professional Firefighters of Keene, Local 3265

Members of the Professional Firefighters of Keene, Local 3265 took to the Central Square gazebo Wednesday to show their support for Keene City Councilor Mitchell H. Greenwald’s run for mayor. Greenwald is center, shaking hands with Keene firefighter Jeremy LaPlante. Also supporting Greenwald are N.H. Sen. Jay V. Kahn, D-Keene, who is standing second to Greenwald’s left, and City Councilor Randy L. Filiault, who is to LaPlante’s right.

Keene mayoral candidate Mitchell H. Greenwald has received the endorsement of the city’s chapter of the state firefighters union, along with that of a state senator and fellow city councilor.

“Councilor Greenwald has always been devoted to not just the citizens of our city but the employees who help protect Keene,” Daniel Lang, president of the Professional Firefighters of Keene, Local 3265, said in a news release from the union Tuesday.

The Professional Firefighters of Keene represents full-time firefighters, company officers and dispatchers who work for the city.

Greenwald, a longtime city councilor who is a co-partner of Greenwald Realty Associates on Main Street with his son, Josh, announced his bid for mayor in April after Mayor Kendall W. Lane announced he won’t be running for a fifth term.

Greenwald is facing Keene City Councilor George S. Hansel, who announced his own run in May.

The filing period for city elections runs from Aug. 21 through Sept. 10, or Sept. 13 for those filing by petition.

The primary elections are on Oct. 8, and the general elections are slated for Nov. 5.
