Need repairs

Sections of brick crosswalks in Keene are being replaced Thursday; this photo from last year depicts a paved crosswalk in need of repair at the corner of Main and Roxbury streets.

Traffic-control measures will temporarily be in effect in parts of downtown Keene Thursday morning as contractors replace paver crosswalks, according to a news release from the city’s public works department.

The work will be done at Church Street at Main Street; Gilbo Avenue at Main Street; and at the mouth of the alley that connects the Citizens Bank parking lot to Main Street, the release says.

During the work, motorists on Gilbo Avenue will be limited to exiting onto Main Street, with westbound Gilbo traffic detoured by way of Emerald Street.

Drivers are asked to use caution and follow the traffic-control instructions.

Questions can be directed to the public works office at 352-6550.
