I used to think that exercise was only about sweating and getting my heart rate up. I would hike mountains, cycle at the gym and dance.
Don’t get me wrong, sweating is really great, and exercise is awesome. But there is another element to working out that helps you stay in the moment: You guessed it — your breath.
Ever work out while focusing on your your in-breath and out-breath? It’s amazing, once you do a workout while noticing your air flow — in through your nose, down into your lungs and expanding your belly. Then when exhaling, your air flow is pushed out of your belly, deflating your belly and out your lungs and nose.
Now you are incorporating your mind together with your body while working out. Try it; it feels very peaceful.
