Dr. Sabrina Russett has taken over Court Street Veterinary Hospital from the previous owner, Dr. Richard Righter, who is retiring, according to a news release. The 34-year-old practice is home to two other veterinarians, Dr. Kristina Hewitt and Dr. Kim Allsopp.

The team has been working to advance the spectrum of care offered by the hospital and to implement more advanced veterinary technology. Of the hospital’s new service offerings, which include orthopedics, telemedicine and exotic-animal care, Russett said in the news release that she’s most excited about its new house-call services for animals in Cheshire County.

“We have a considerable number of clients in our practice who are elderly with mobility issues, and we have an equal number of pets who become really afraid coming to the hospital,” Russett said. “Doctor’s visits can be scary! We’re instituting this service so we can still provide care to those people and pets who need it most, but may face obstacles in getting to us.”

All three of the practice’s vets cut their teeth in Scotland. Russett earned her degree at the University of Edinburgh, and Hewitt got hers from the University of Glasgow. Allsopp, too, studied at the University of Edinburgh, though she finished her degree at Oregon State University.
