WEST CHESTERFIELD — A longtime equestrian is now offering lessons in town.

Emily Ethier of Chesterfield launched Perfect Timing Equine at the end of May. She’s been riding horses for more than 20 years and has been an instructor on and off for about 15 years.

“It’s just what I’ve always wanted to do,” she said. “It really is my passion, and this year, my New Year’s resolution was to start teaching again, either for myself or for somebody else.”

So Ethier bought a horse for riding lessons, and her neighbors, Lavonne and Jim Esterman, let her use their property at 23 Streeter Hill Road to start her business.

“I wouldn’t be able to do this without them,” Ethier said of the Eastermans, who she said are “more like family.”

Ethier works with beginners and experienced riders, including children and adults. Her lessons teach English riding with an emphasis on equitation and preparation for competition events, including jumping.
