Beginning Saturday, the Monadnock Humane Society in Swanzey will no longer be open to the public for visiting or walk-in adoptions due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.
The organization will instead offer adoptions by appointment only. The decision was made to maintain a healthy work environment for employees and volunteers, according to a news release from the humane society.
Visitors to the adoption center will be asked to adhere to hygiene protocols. Visits will be limited to those for the purpose of surrendering or adopting an animal and participating in necessary programs, such as the food pantry and spay/neuter clinics.
MHS will continue to monitor the evolving situation and will adjust open hours, staffing needs and service availability as necessary.
Anyone interested in setting up a meeting with an adoptable animal may contact MHS at 603-354-4004. Additional information on available animals will be offered by phone. To see pets that are available for adoption, visit www.monadnockhumanesociety.org.
