Philip Wyzik will discuss his new novel, “Pushed Down, Then Out,” at The Toadstool Bookshop in Peterborough on Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m.

Wyzik, who is the chief executive officer for Monadnock Family Services in Keene, will introduce the novel, which imagines a future where it is socially unacceptable to be charitable, where mankind’s basest instincts for self-preservation and the “survival of the fittest” side of capitalism color the whole culture. In the novel, a traumatized young girl escapes this culture to find respite among some strangers in a small New Hampshire town.

As provider, educator, and advocate, Wyzik has been working in the field of community mental health for more than 30 years.

The event is free and all are welcome. For more information, call the bookstore at 603-924-3543.
