MoCo Arts will hold auditions for their upcoming production of the full-length Broadway musical “Matilda” at MoCo Arts, 40 Roxbury St., Keene, on June 10 and 11, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The performance is the culmination of the Musical Theatre Senior class, open to students in grades 6-12, which is offered at MoCo’s Creative Arts at Keene (C.A.K.E.) Summer Camp July 1 through 26. The class will take place Monday through Friday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for the duration of camp. Actors must register for all four weeks of camp to participate, and everyone who auditions will be cast in the show.
C.A.K.E. is a multi-arts summer day camp for kids in grades 3 through 12. Campers create their own schedule based on their interests and can choose from a variety of classes in art, writing, dance, theater, music, technical theater, video production and more. There are full and half-day options, and tuition assistance is available.
“Matilda” will be an intergenerational production that will include C.A.K.E. and MoCo Arts staff performing the adult roles, while the campers take on the roles of the young characters. The show will be performed in The Founder’s Theatre at MoCo Arts on Friday, July 26, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, July 27, at 2 and 7 p.m. Excerpts from the show will be presented at The Colonial Theatre during C.A.K.E. Festival Day on Thursday, July 25.
