The Kiwanis Club of Keene will once again host the annual tree lighting celebration in Central Square on Friday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m.
This year’s tree is a white fir donated by Todd Waterman of Keene.
Family-friendly festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with musical performances from the Grand Monadnock Youth Chorus and Nelson Brass Ensemble. The groups will join together and lead the crowd in a round of caroling, along with a reading of the classic story “’Twas the Night before Christmas.” Hot chocolate and cookies will be available for a donation from the students of the St. Joseph Regional School Builders Club and the Surry Village Charter School.
The Keene High School and Monadnock Key Clubs will distribute free bells to all the children, which will be used to ring in the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. The crowd will help Santa count down to the magic moment when he flips the switch to light the large tree. Kids will then have a chance to sit with and have their picture taken with Santa (bring your own camera).
