JAFFREY — Jaffrey Public Library has been selected as one of 100 libraries in the country to participate in round three of Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries, an initiative that seeks to help library workers better serve small and rural communities. The library was also a recipient in round one.
The award comes with a $3,000 grant that will support an expanding library initiative to increase understanding and awareness of communities of people who are often overlooked and misunderstood, leading to their marginalization in society. The program will include both conversations led by authentic voices and additions to the library collection, and was inspired by the library's successful program earlier this year on gender diversity. More details on the program will be available next year.
Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries is an initiative of the American Library Association in collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries.
