The Keene Conservation Commission, in partnership with the Keene Parks and Recreation Department, will host a geological exploration walk around Goose Pond on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 9:45 a.m.
The group will examine some of the rock outcrops that reflect the geology of the Keene area, how glaciers shaped the area’s landscape and how to recognize these influences. The walk will be led by Steven Bill who holds a Ph.D. in geology and has taught courses on several branches of Earth science at Keene State College for 30 years.
Participants will meet at the Goose Pond Parking area and trailhead on East Surry Road in Keene. Those who attend are advised to wear appropriate shoes and clothes for fall weather. In case of inclement weather, a rain date is set for Saturday, Oct. 30. Registration is limited to 12 individuals. To register, go to KeeneParks.com and choose the programs tab.
