WESTMINSTER, Vt. — The Bellows Falls Rotary Club will hosting its annual Penny Sale Saturday at the Bellows Falls Union High School auditorium.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. start of the first of the penny sale’s three series. Refreshments will be provided by Parks Place Community Resource Center; this year’s menu will consist of hot dogs, chili, macaroni and cheese, baked goods, chips, popcorn, soda, water and seltzer.

The Penny Sale is the Rotary Club’s major fundraiser, with proceeds used for community projects and programs such as Our Place Drop In Center, Parks Place and the Warming Shelter. Additionally, scholarships are provided for graduating students, as well as support for the inbound and outbound foreign exchange student programs.

More than 300 prizes have been donated by area businesses for the sale. There is a wide range, from toys, cash and tools to gift certificates for many local restaurants and services.

This year’s series-ending special prizes include a big screen TV, sponsored by the Savings Bank of Walpole; a bicycle and helmet, sponsored by The Richards Group; and a gas grill, sponsored by Bill Stevens Edward Jones in Bellows Falls — and as always, the Rotary Penny Sale means cash, cash, cash.

A cash raffle tops off the evening’s events, with chances to win $250, $500 or $1,000. You do not need to be present for the cash drawing. See a Rotarian to purchase your cash raffle tickets in advance or buy them at the Penny Sale.
