Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson will solve a yuletide mystery when the Baker Street Readers present a dramatic reading of “The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle” on Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro.

The readers present one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories each month, but for Christmas they’re throwing in a twist: Victorian Christmas carols sung by local a cappella group “The Harmony Lot!”

In “The Blue Carbuncle,” Dr. Watson visits his old friend, Sherlock Holmes, to wish him the compliments of the season. Holmes has an easy, pleasant case before him, he simply needs to find the owner of a certain hat and return a lost Christmas goose to him. But when a bizarre twist makes the case far more complicated and stakes far higher than originally thought, Holmes and Watson must dash out into the frigid winter streets of London to track down the origins of a precious stone and, perhaps, save an innocent man.

The Hooker-Dunham Theater is at 139 Main St. in Brattleboro.

Tickets are $5, cash only at the door. For more information, visit facebook.com/bakerstreetreaders or email bakerstreetreaders@gmail.com.
