Peter and Mary Poanessa, members of Walldogs and owners of Keene Signworx, put the finishing touches on a Keene Pumpkin Festival jersey barrier last Sunday.
The Keene Pumpkin Festival is this Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. in downtown Keene. In addition to several thousand jack-o’-lanterns, this year’s event is set to feature to new attractions. The organizers of the festival have teamed up with Walldogs personnel and the Historical Society of Cheshire County to add two new features to the event. By reservation, the historical society will offer a two-hour guided tour of the 16 Walldogs murals at 2 p.m. The second collaboration between the Walldogs artists and the Pumpkin Festival team is a joint effort to follow up on a suggestion made by Lt. Shane Maxfield of the Keene Police Department. Dozens of jersey barriers are required to stage downtown events and Pumpkin Festival organizers own them. At Maxfield’s suggestion, several of the barriers will be painted and decorated and displayed at this year’s festival.
