Esther Beverly of Winchester has been named Statewide Home Provider of the Year for 2017. The annual award is presented by the New Hampshire Council on Developmental Disabilities. Home providers offer a family setting for adults who are unable to live alone due to a physical or developmental disability.
Beverly was one of 11 New Hampshire finalists. She was presented the award at the Direct Support Professional Conference Friday in Portsmouth.
Over the past four years, she has diligently forged a strong relationship with a woman with significant challenges who had moved from provider to provider over a period of many years. She welcomed this woman into her family, built trust and created a safe home environment for her. Beverly’s efforts helped stabilize the woman, allowing her to focus on personal growth and to set and achieve goals, it was noted.
