The head of Cheshire County’s nursing home was recently feted with a national award.

Kathryn Kindopp, administrator of Maplewood Nursing Home in Wesmtoreland, was named the recipient of a 2019 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award.

The awards go to administrators of skilled nursing facilities that demonstrate leadership excellence, reflected in survey data and placement in the top quartile in certain quality measures, according to a recent news release from the American College of Health Care Administrators, which bestows the honor. Just 7 percent of skilled nursing facilities nationwide qualified, according to the release. This year, 286 administrators in 35 states received the award.

The Eli Pick awards were introduced in 2008, named after a late member of the American College of Health Care Administrators who served as the executive director of a rehabilitation center in DesPlaines, Ill., for more than 30 years.
