A local pet groomer took top spots in a New England-wide competition this month.

Kayla Douglas of DogGone Beautiful Pet Styling in Keene competed in the New England Pet Grooming Professionals fall festival, a national grooming competition held in Sturbridge, Mass.

Douglas took third place in the terrier class with Houdini, a miniature schnauzer, and second place in the salon freestyle class with Ted, a goldendoodle who she styled in an Airedale trim.

Douglas also won the Best First Time Competitor class.
