In recent days this newspaper has published information about drug and alcohol abuse that’s wholly out of character with this part of New Hampshire.

At Keene High School, incidents involving drug and alcohol are up sharply. In an ordinary year the school records between 20 and 30 cases of students showing up under the influence or carrying illegal substances; this year, with four months to go before school lets out, officials say that the count has already hit 30.
