NELSON — The annual town meeting was lively Tuesday, as residents debated a number of topics for nearly four hours, including an attempt to decrease the budget by more than $50,000 and whether a formal committee was needed for Old Home Day.
From the moment the meeting started, the more than 70 registered voters who attended were ready for action. First, resident Mike Blandschun proposed an amendment to reduce the proposed budget of $314,231 to $262,761, saying it was too much and needed to be looked at carefully.
