The TD Bank operations facility on Key Road in Keene will close in May 2013.
About 80 employees work at the facility, which processes and certifies deposits for the bank. The work done there will be transferred to the bank’s three main corporate campuses in Maine, New Jersey and South Carolina, said TD Bank spokesman Jimmy Hernandez.
The bank is offering employees assistance finding jobs either at other bank locations or elsewhere, Hernandez said.
TD Bank has “a number of openings” in the Keene area and more than 50 in the state, Hernandez said.
A search for open positions on the bank’s website shows 48 open positions statewide, but only 27 are full time. There are two full-time openings in Keene for an assistant store manager and a commercial loan officer. The bank’s Peterborough, Rindge and Troy locations each have single part-time teller positions open.
“We’re encouraging those employees to apply for positions they’re interested in and qualified for,” he said.
If the employees at the Keene operations facility accept a job elsewhere with the bank, TD will help with relocation costs, Hernandez said.
The decision to close the facility was made in part “to centralize operations and improve overall efficiency,” Hernandez wrote in an email. Centralizing the work at the three main campuses supports the bank’s continuous growth, he wrote.
Employees were notified of the closing on Sept. 25, Hernandez said. No other operations facilities have been informed they will be closing, and that information would be relayed to employees first, he said.
Locally, TD Bank has branches in Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Jaffrey, Keene, Peterborough, Rindge, Troy and Winchester.
TD Bank operates in 15 states, from Maine to Florida, and Washington, D.C. It is one of the 10 largest banks in the country and a subsidiary of The Toronto-Dominion Bank of Toronto, Canada.
