Beverly A. Moore huddled under a large oak table with about a half-dozen of her siblings and cousins at her grandmother’s house on Fiddle Hill in Ashuelot, filled with fright and excitement. The wind was blowing so fast it shattered a few of the windows as one cousin tried to hold the glass in place, cutting his hand.

It was 1938. Moore was 4 years old.
