Where would we be without buttons?


A nifty lady I’ve known for her entire life has a box of buttons that were her grandmother’s, another that were her mother’s, and still another buttonstash that was her mother-in-law’s. Plus, of course, her own collection of more than 40 years. At her house, no garment is allowed to retire into the ragbag without giving up all of its buttons. One large container, in fact, holds hundreds of white buttons from her husband’s discarded shirts. I’ll bet every one of you deareaders has your own bursting bevy of benched buttons, right?
